About The Thibodeaux Family Website
About 10 years ago I started to get interested in learning more about my family and my culture. I grew up south Louisiana and was surrounded by the Cajun Culture, but like most kids, I was not that interested in past. That was for the old folks.
Once I moved away from Louisiana and then hit my 30s, I realized just how unique the Cajun Culture was, and I grew somewhat sad about the things I did not learn about my culture, the many relatives I did not know, and the many stories I had never heard or did not care to remember.
Well, each generation is a part of new culture and that's just the way of the world. The Cajun culture was not the same as the Acadian Culture of Canada, and the Acadians, I'm sure, were somewhat unique from the culture of France.
I can't turn back the clock, and I don't really want to, because all my experiences have brought to where I am today, and I am very happy with my life.
That doesn't stop me from wanting to explore the past. The Web has helped me get in touch with family that I have not heard of in many years, and many relatives and can't remember ever meeting, but I have communicated with them because of the Web, and in some cases, because of this site.
So I say success!
I am by no means the family historian, and most of the info was given to me from father, Leo Thibodeaux, Jr., and he has since passed away, so all I have now for a resource is what family members send me. So please let me know if you have any info, updates, corrections, etc.
